Initial Concepts
Whenever I design a new character, I first like to gather up as much reference material as I can manage. Even if I don't end up using all of them in the final design, that initial search helps me get a sense of the style I might go for. Some of my main sources of inspiration when designing Ellie, our playable character, were 90s sci-fi anime and survival-horror protagonists.

Below are some rough sketches I did to get an idea of where I wanted to go with Ellie's design. I normally would have done a few more, but I was a bit strapped for time with this project so I only had time to do two.
